The Weight of a Thousand Suns

c_c_chaos 'Who could create a man like me, but god?', one of Horizon Ablaze's two vocalists bellows toward the end of 'Delusions of Grandeur', which closes with perhaps the most intense, energetic, and dynamic blackened death performance I know of. Staggering as it is, that song is not, however, outstanding. The Weight of a Thousand Suns is so incredibly consistent that every single track is one of my most favorite songs in all of metal. Who could create an album like this?
Dan Curhan

Dan Curhan I keep coming back to this album again and again, though by all my normal metrics it shouldn't necessarily be a standout. I guess that's what perfection merits - melodic, aggressive, dark and dissonant, atmospheric and engaging, it takes a while to sink in, and may never truly blow your mind, but will never ever disappoint you. Favorite track: She Who Walks Upon the Sea.

Tyme There aren't too many days I don't spend some time thanking the metal gods for Angry Metal Guy. Had it not been for that site I would not have found Bandcamp. Possibly. Be that as it may, I trust much of what that site says is worthy of my time, and Horizon Ablaze is no exception. Great record and well reviewed. I encourage all to check it out at www.angrymetalguy.com/horizon-ablaze-weight-thousand-suns-review/. Thanks Eldritch for sharing.................

Talvalin Progressive, melodic blackened death metal? Fuck knows. I lack good descriptors for this excellent album, but if your head doesn't start banging at 4:12 of the first track then you might as well give up on metal.

This may be my last night on earth. So Decadent, Such recklessness The light falls from the sky And the earth sinks below I descend into my world of endulgence The fire calls my name My life fades to black Dust covered mountains Trees of liquid gold They have longed for me Serenaded me in my dreams I descend into my world of endulgence Of emptiness, of despair As I sink into the haze I’ll find solace in my kingdom, my dimension When you cross my threshold, you you belong to me Searching for something to hold that does not die Ill gauge my eyes out so I can see Finding some truth in every lie I broke my bones for your desire Twisted flesh to sculpt the liar The fire calls my name My life fades to black

The world trembles in awe before my feet A savant in every trait Yet my past is of humility No wealth to our name, and shunned by society Like a phoenix from the ashes I rose above and deemed my place Like a diamond in the rough, waiting to shine, waiting to glow in all my splendor You may ask yourself, how do I shine so bright Im not to blame for this gift I have And I say how dare you How dare you, To question me Destined to surpass all of you My path paved in gold, oh the emeralds I might bleed unto you if you bow deep enough For you know what I say is true Like a phoenix from the ashes I rose above and deemed my place Like a diamond in the rough, waiting to shine, waiting to glow in all my splendor Once I bore the cross for you, at a time of despair I took your sins, and made them my own Why do you worship a relic of me? When im standing here before you Long have I searched for a father, but in vain. Who could create a man like me, but god? When you thought all hope is gone, I rose from beyond I rose from beyond

Remember when we spoke of demons? We were nine. Youth have long since gone and our eyes may have withered But we know what must be done The pact cannot be broken Our fate is sealed. Who could ever know? That we will rule with an iron fist. In a world where I am king You’ll become my barren queen Rule by my side The fields of emptiness The world would be right if it only brought our truth Condemned to walk your narrow path Trapped between pillars of earth Time has corroded the chain Oh how I mourn the loss The key to our palace turned to dust As they drowned you away With their vile concoction In a world where I am king You’ll become my barren queen Rule by my side The fields of emptiness All I have left is behind closed eyes

Is she who flutters. The mistress who swept me away So soothing, so euphoric The bite should sting, yet the pain cares for me Sinking deeper than sorrow Motionless I float in your dreams So close you feel my breath So close I taste your soul In a moment of clarity, I gain my composure Looking through the eyes of the raven All my wounds cry for forgiveness and soon they are drenched Life was never meant for me For me Sinking deeper than sorrow I float in your dreams So close you can feel me So close I can taste you

When to part with fate? How lonesome I will be, as darkness drinks me I gave you all I was, You Breaking all we built to fail To what end? What am I supposed to do? How to mend? A broken spell, you broke our world I gave you all Love, the accepted insanity Locked in a sphere where emotions rule. Blinded by your own lust Seduced by the guiding hand. Your dream ends when I clench my fist. You reach inside and give your heart To the hand that caress, to the hand that destroys Willfully knowing the time will come When the curtain must fall, and the magic is lost Your dream ends when I clench my fist. As the ones before me, I burn away the parts I used. Leaving a trail of despair, a trail of despair for you to wander, upon When to part with fate? How lonesome I will be, as darkness drinks me I gave you all I was All I am Rage, the accepted remedy Bound in thorns, bound in hate A fate worse than death, sealed by your guiding hand

For eons I have ruled within danced through your dreams Walked the dunes of tranquility What you hold so dear it bleeds It feeds on me Extracted oceans of Insanity Bleeding the skin The bitter aftertaste, of a brew called content Sacrilegious eyes writhe within, brought forth by sin My world built on your agony Oceans never felt so real, so compelled to kneel Submerging me in Calamity Behind the Veil The bitter aftertaste, of a brew called content As your walls are closing in My world expands into yours I sit my throne, glaring into the chasm Into your soul, I’ll find your most precious What you hold so dear, it withers in my hands like grains of sand Cut my skin like shards of broken glass The river flows from my wound, to your grail

Horrendous visions depicting a world in utter turmoil In utter chaos Divided soul, from flesh Torn from the coil, it once caressed Now a path of solitude Bleeding its sorrows unto you The world cries to me Demonic possessions they say I will never yield In these games they play They insist on making me see Through their eyes lies reality In a haze of despair I have known you were always there Are you my long lost twin? Are we bound by flesh within? We do not need their salvation Why submit to your world? When we can conjure our own. Let us fall as one to a place called home I heard your voice, so many times before Never thought I could quench it Shapeless you linger, am I blind? To the obvious, no. No! No! We are legion, we are one!

Insidious 05:35
I come from a plague where white is black. Banished to hell yet now I’m back. Spawned to dilute your perception Forged to divert your intentions I linger in corners unseen, so filthy and yet so clean I rise when you bend your knees I’m the last thing you’ll ever knew So familiar, yet so strange So cold but trying, someone I used to know Come kneel by my side, and let me gaze upon Your shifting face Tell me who you are Ill spit my words in disbelief I am the subtle thief of you I am the haze you can’t get though Bewildered you walk my planes Betrayed by my dreary sway Searching for what one cannot find Stealing the weak and fragile mind Don’t fear my old friend Don’t fear the last descent For the first time in my life I am touching darkness And it feels like It feels like solitude All wrapped in black liquid All dressed in tailored death Come kneel by my side, and let me gaze upon Your shifting face Tell me who you are Ill spit my words in disbelief I am, Insidious!
